Mobiomooc: week 2-3 and mobile project
Dear participants of the course. We come to the end of the second week of our course. This week I took part not very active. This can be explained by the fact that the main work has focused on the webinars, but I'm not so good at English to quickly understand the meaning.
But this lack compensated discussions in Google Groups. I read with interest the projects of participants of the course and was surprised by the number of good ideas. Many projects have been developed with social purpose: to make people's lives better and this is very important. I want to mention a good idea Adele Botha - "collaborative work for create program of m-learning".
This week I want to take part in the group From pedagogical theory to mLearning practice (fac. Geoff Stead). I am very interested of this topic and I expect good work and good ideas from its members.
I and my colleague from Russia - Ivan Travkin present to you a mobile project: "Mobile learning environment of the university: The use of mobile devices for the creation of open educational resources (OER)@

This week I did a little survey of the participants of the course. Responded to my invitation - 20 people. You have the opportunity to take a
survey on the link: http://bugaychuk.blogspot.com/2012/09/mobimooc-survey.html
Its final results I will post to all course participants tomorrow night.

mobimooc survey
Good evening to all participants of the course open mobimooc 2012.
My colleagues from Ukraine asked me to talk their about my experiences in the our course. For this, I prepared a small anonymous survey. Please answer a few simple questions. Without them, my story would not be complete. All the results of the questionnaire will be open for the other participants of our course. So you can use them for your research and job. Thank you for your answers.
In survey word "Другое" means - "Other"
Sincerely. Konstantine.

Tips of MOOC (Правила участия в МОДК)
25 Tips For A Better MOOC Experience
- It’s easy to lose interest and drop out of a MOOC, but don’t let that happen. Find at least one other person to keep you connected to the course, and you’ll be much more likely to stay on track.
- Be sure that you’re easy to find if your coursemates would like to connect with you. Share your Twitter, blog, and even a friendly image so that they know how to find you.
- A great way to get connected with others in your course is to post a thoughtful reply to a discussion, or create your own discussion. Just be sure to get out there and get involved, you’ll find much more value in the course if you participate with others.
- If you really want to get the most out of your MOOC experience, take part in all of the major projects along with the class.
- Help out your classmates. If they seem to have trouble with a concept that you feel you understand, step in and offer some assistance. You just might learn something yourself.
- A MOOC is, by definition, massive, and there will be lots of posts to your course groups that you can read, but you don’t have to. Remember that you don’t have to read every single thing. Save time by getting a daily digest of posts and scanning it for interesting conversations that you’d like to take part in.
- Do your classmates a favor: get to the point. Be concise in your discussions, questions, and answers so that everyone else can quickly skim through your contribution to the discussion.
- A great way to help others better understand what you’re getting at is to use descriptive titles. That way they can skim and decide if they want to read your discussion or not.
- As you begin to understand the course content, you may have reflections of your own. Share videos, concept maps, and more to share with your classmates, and have them to reflect on later.
- Don’t be afraid to speak up if you have a question or an interesting discussion to spark. You’ll be able to better understand a concept, and may even be able to shed some light on information for others who were wondering, too.
- A great way to stay on top of discussions without being overwhelmed is to join sub-groups, where you can share what’s really important to you in the course.
- Although you’ll certainly be participating in online discussions, a blog is a great place to collect and share your own thoughts on a course. It’s a good idea to have an online home for your conversations that will live on even after the MOOC is over. Try to post to your MOOC blog at least once a week, and reference to it when applicable.
- Chances are good that plenty of MOOC discussions will be happening on Twitter. Be sure to get on the service and find out what the course hashtag is.
- With tools like Scoop.it, you can create an archive of all of the great resources you’ve found in your MOOC.
- Use your usual email address for a MOOC, and you’re bound to get overwhelmed quickly. Create a dedicated email address that you use only for MOOC learning, or set up filters to keep posts out of your run-of-the-mill inbox.
- Yahoo! Pipes are a great way to stay on top of MOOC post aggregation. You can bring in RSS, Google Groups, even Twitter and Flickr.
- Do you just want to follow along? Get credit? Start your own learning module? Have a clear idea of what you want to get out of a MOOC before you even get started.
- Determine where and when everything is so that you don’t get left behind. Find the materials, important links, and times of the sessions that you want to participate in.
- It’s easy to get behind when there’s so much coming at you all at once. That’s why getting oriented and determining your goal is so important. Decide what you want to participate in, and then schedule a time to do just that. Plan when you’ll read discussions, remember sessions, and carve out time for readings so that you’ll always be available to give learning your full attention.
- When no one is holding you accountable, it’s tempting to let things slip. But stay committed and stay active, and you’ll reap the full benefits of the course.
- If you’re going to do the work, why not get credit for it? Many MOOCs offer the option to get a certificate for course participation; find out what the requirements are and what you’ll need to do to get one.
- It’s rumored that star performers in MOOCs just might be snapped up by dot-coms in need of star talent. Students who ace problems and never miss a quiz, engage in high-level discussion, and show their passion for the subject really stand out, and some employers are beginning to take notice.
- As Inside Higher Ed explains, you can use MOOC in your prior learning portfolio to get actual college credit for your work, even if it’s not directly from the MOOC administrator.
- MOOCs are an educational marathon; don’t give up before you’re done. Put in the time and effort necessary to stay with it, persistently connecting, building your network, and learning.
- MOOCs can be overwhelming; if you need a break, take a little time off to relax and start again. Pick things up next week with a new topic.
YAHOO! PIPE
Yahoo!

e-learning vs. distance learning vs. m-learning
E-Learning - A
• Learning from electronic devices (any: PC, e-reader, laptop, tablet…).
• All the information is in electronic form.
E-learning can use the Internet for delivery of material and interaction of participants, and may not be used (e-course, where the interaction is with the "learning program" in that forms: e-course, electronic textbooks, etc., it is may be learning with PC in the classroom)/
Distance learning (participants are separated in time and space) is in two forms:
• Network (electronic) - for information delivery and interaction using the Internet - B
• Correspondence (its share is negligible). An example School ESHKO http://eshko.ua - C
Now distance learning has become almost completely electronic - B
Mobile learning is included in the e-learning. The main difference - the use of "portable devices."

Moodle for mobile
Fulfilling my promise
Many universities use in Learning process LMS Moodle. One time I was interested in the question: Is it possible to get full access to the system from a mobile phone. As a result of the work I found a few apps that allow this. With their materials, I made a report at the beginning of 2012 at the MOOC "Distance Learning from A to Z".
For the participants of the our course, I translated the presentation. I also give a brief information about these applications.
1. MLE-Moodle is an out-of-the-box mobile Learning (m-Learning) system, designed for mobile Phones. http://mle.sourceforge.net/mlemoodle/index.php?lang=en&page=start.php
It is realized as a plugin for the open-source Learning Management System (LMS) Moodle. Just copy the MLE-Moodle files to your Moodle-installation and your eLearning system is now a m-Learning system too.
So with MLE-Moodle you can enhance your eLearning system to mobile Learning, and can learn either with your mobile phone (m-Learning) or with your PC / Notebook (eLearning).
On the mobile phone you can either use the built-in mobile browser to access MLE-Moodle. Or you can use a special mobile phone application which was designed for learning on mobile phones (called MLE phone client).
2. MoodleTouch (mTouch) is the first native iOS (iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad)application for Moodle: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/mtouch/id366785596?mt=8

MobiMooc - First step
Good day to all the participants of the course! My name Bugaychuk Konstantin. I live in Ukraine in the Kharkiv city. I work at the Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs. I am a PhD, associate professor. One of the areas of my interest is the e-learning and everything connected with it.
In everyday life and in my work I use a mobile phone (galaxy mini: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_Mini) and a tablet (galaxy tab 7.0. plus: http://www.samsung.com/global/microsite/galaxytab/7.0/index.html?type=find). So I understand that mobile learning is useful and good.
In my university had not yet established mobile learning, but I am preparing myself in advance for this activity. For example, I started a site on Moodle and integrated to it mobile application MLE. Now, everyone who will learn, to be able to comfortably view the material from your mobile device, and interact with other students.
I think that the most important thing in education is not a mobile device. Most importantly - access anywhere, anytime 24/7, openness, simplicity, rapidity of reflection, constant interaction of the teacher and the student and its support.
I have experience in the field of massive open online courses (cMOOC). In 2011, I and my colleague Vladimir Kukharenko were the organizers and tutors first cMOOCs in Eastern Europe:
1. «Social services in distance education» http://el-ukraine.wikispaces.com
2. «Distance Learning from A to Z» http://elaz.wikispaces.com. This course we submitted to the international competition. Learn more about this course you can here: http://bugaychuk.blogspot.com/2012/06/2012-international-e-learning-awards.html (our application in English!).
What would I like to share for you?
1. In the course «Social Services in Distance Learning» we had a topic «Mobile learning». http://goo.gl/WoBkX. Here you will find many references in English and Russian on «mobile learning». This wiki is also a lot of sources in English on the web 2.0 services and personal learning environment.
In my blog you can find articles about MOOC and mobile learning:
- http://bugaychuk.blogspot.com/2011/12/blog-post.html
- http://bugaychuk.blogspot.com/2012/01/blog-post.html
In general, in my blog you can find lots of information on e-learning, and the use of web 2.0 services
2. I spent several webinars on mobile learning. I used the service Wiziq. I think that you do not understand my Russian))). But I have a few presentations that I will be translated into English and will share for the participants of this course.
In general, in this course, I have a divide with all of you. I'm not very good at English. So I will run slower you. But I will try to fulfill all the requirements of the organizers of the course and take part in all activities.
I will help Inge with her magisters work, and will take part in her online survey)))).
If you are my materials will be useful, write about it. You are free to use them for their research and work.
Also, I will use the content of this course to improve my future MOOC))))). All references to the authors will be saved)))
Thanks Inge for the invitation to the course and I wish us all a good job. I am very happy to be part of the community.

Exel.
